Church Choir

The Church Choir at St. Anne’s is a vibrant SATB choir with around 22 members and welcomes singers of all experience levels and none, who practise to learn and sing beautiful sacred music, from ancient to modern.

The choir rehearses in church at 6.30pm for forty-five/fifty minutes each Tuesday and sings at one Choral Communion on the third Sunday of each month. This helps to ensure the commitment level is more easily manageable for those with busy lifestyles than most traditional church choirs. Whilst we aim to sing to a high quality, our approach is informal and we do not robe for services. Whilst most in the choir have a Christian faith, others don’t – we welcome everybody who wants to sing as part of our choir and become a part of the choir community.

The choir also sings for the main cornerstone services of the year: Easter Day, Harvest Evensong, Advent Carol Service and the Candlelit Service of Nine Lessons & Carols, which is usually held on the Saturday evening before Christmas. These are always very special and meaningful events.

It is a very sociable group, and a good way to get to know people in the village and from other local villages. Many choir members adjourn to the pub after rehearsals and people regularly go over the road for Sunday morning coffee or brunch after services.

Parking is available at the rear of the church (via the church driveway through the graveyard) and entrance to rehearsals is via the vestry door. If you’re interested, simply come along to a Tuesday evening rehearsal, or for more information please don’t hesitate to contact: Claire De la Haye, choir leader on 07515 287222.

Bel Canto is a ladies’ choir based in Baslow, Derbyshire with over 25 members.

Formed in 2010, we regularly perform at venues across Derbyshire including St. Anne’s Church, where we rehearse.

We sing a wide variety of repertoire from ancient to modern, sacred to jazz and most importantly, we have a wonderful time singing.

Bel Canto plays a key role in the Candlelit Service of Nine Lessons & Carols and the Easter Day Choral Communion Service at St. Anne’s.

The Bel Canto Chamber Choir and smaller ensembles and soloists are also available for weddings and private events.
