Advent and Christmas Events at St Anne's
Friday 24th November
7.00pm Christmas Light Switch-on. Family event to kick off the Christmas season. Informal church service, brass band, barbecue and, of course, the famous countdown to switch on the lights
Sunday 26th November
2.00pm Advent "Come and Sing" Workshop & Evensong. Hugely popular workshops. Learn a piece of choral music from scratch: 'All Praise To Thee' by Elaine Hagenberg, and perform in a candle-lit evensong. Supportive, fun and perfect for all voice types (SATB) and abilities. If you would like to sing, please email Claire (claire.delahaye@hotmail.co.uk). All are welcome at the evensong at 5.00pm, even if you haven't participated in the workshop.
Wednesday 6th December
6.00pm Midweek Advent Choral Evensong. A short prayer book Evensong with our church choir.
Saturday 9th December
7.30pm Baslow Choir Concert. Traditional carols for Advent and Christmas with additional audience carols. See www.baslowchoir.co.uk for ticket details
Saturday 16th December
6.30pm Candlelit Service of Nine Lessons & Carols Our own version of 'Carols from Kings' and a cornerstone of the Christmas calendar for many. Led by the St Anne's Choir & Bel Canto, a traditional service of Bible readings and music, blending choral anthems and congregational carols.
Friday 22nd December
6.00pm Carols & Beer at The Wheatsheaf Community singing of the best-loved carols. Come and belt them out with a beer or two.
Christmas Eve
4.00pm Crib Service Much loved informal and fun service for young children. An opportunity to dress up as the Holy family and take part in the Christmas story, re-enacted around the crib.
Christmas Eve
11.30pm Midnight Communion All welcome to greet the new Christmas day together in this short, reflective service.
Christmas Day
10.30am Christmas Holy Communion. Join us for joyful Christmas morning worship.
